I finally had some time to write and decided to work on my still untitled novel – you know, the Sci fi romance that is almost completed. 100 000 words in and I will probably have to go through it and cut some scenes. Personally I love, love, LOVE long books, but apparently more than 100 000 words is a big “no-no” in the writing industry, at least until you have made a name for yourself.
I have to say, I am not very excited for the editing phase. I hate cutting scenes, I always feel like most of them are too relevant to get rid of – which I know any professional editor would disagree with.
Still it has to be done, and I am getting closer and closer to that time. You know, that time when your book is finally completed. After slaving away for months you have created a finished novel and all you want to do is sit back and enjoy the accomplishment. Sadly, it is never to be. Editing comes first, and of course it’ll probably feel like a nightmare.
Well, dear readers, I still have ways to go. I am close, but oh so far away. I have almost wrapped up the story, each remaining scene has been laid out in detail in my mind, all that is left is to write them all down. It will probable be about 15 000 more words (some important big scenes left before I have my all-important HEA), but it will probably take me weeks to write those few, last words, mainly because I have so much other work to do and I am still working on four other books. I can’t help myself, sometimes another story just calls to me and I am lost in another world for days.
Oh, well, at least I don’t have many readers to let down, not yet at least. I promise once I get my first “real” book published I will be much more consistent. If enough people like my books I will definitely quit my other job and write full-time. I can only imagine how amazing that would be.
Back to writing I go.
